With this past Saturday being US Independence day, we thought it a perfect time for an American inspired post. Now I love Pimms as much as the next person but for a different take on this classic English drink why not look across the pond to the Southern summer staple, the Mint Julep? This frosty cocktail looks sweet, but watch out because its main ingredient is bourbon and it has a fiery Confederate kick!
For one julep you will need:
6-8 mint leaves
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup crushed ice
2 shots of Bourbon
A splash of simple sugar syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated so the sugar dissolves)
Mix all the ingredients together, pour over the crushed ice and garnish with mint (although we love the look of Lavender springs).
And the best part of this cocktail? The traditional sliver julep glasses are too cute for words and compliment nearly any wedding style!
