A few weeks ago I headed to see eyebrow guru Shavata at Urban Retreat, Harrods to have my somewhat uncontrollable eyebrows dealt with. Having never had a professional near my eyebrows (I know, I know, heinous isn’t it) I was slightly apprehensive about the results but oh my goodness, I was completely blown away! It took me a few days to get used to the uber preened look but once I’d started recognising myself in the mirror again I was able to see what a great job Shavata had done and what a difference the threading, waxing and trimming has made.
Here’s a little bit of blurb bout Shavata and her team of dedicated brow threaders:
“Shavata has worked in the beauty industry for over 19 years and runs a Brow Studio at the Urban Retreat at Harrods.
She is a leader in her field and has forged a reputation as THE authority on eyebrows. No one shapes and grooms brows in quite the same way. Shavata makes it possible for women – and men – to walk away with a perfect pair of eyebrows in just minutes.
Shavata truly believes in the difference professionally manicured eyebrow can make and all her clients can verify this instantly! A Shavata brow shape is equivalent to a mini face lift in 15 minutes.
Shavata and her team are all highly experienced brow experts and are committed to creating eyebrows to perfectly frame and enhance your features.”
So I am 100% converted, if not slightly obsessed with my new eyebrows. My only regret being that I went so long carrying around my bushy little friends and didn’t bow to the wonders of threading earlier. So don’t make the same mistake, especially if you’re a bride to be; I guarantee you won’t regret it!

The amazing work of Yulia Brodskaya has been doing the rounds for a little while now, especially since it has been heavily featured in The Guardian. I love Yulia’s incredible use of colour and it would be great to commission a piece which was then photographed and featured throughout a stationery set and then used as a focal point at the wedding reception. What an amazing keepsake for after the wedding too.
There’s something about the brave combination of these two colours that brings me great joy. Something to do with how the ice blue cools the heat of that cherry red creating a kitsch, retro look.
From my excursions around the web, it seems like this palette is much more popular over in the States and I have to admit that there is something about this concept that makes me want to go and eat an ice cream sundae in a 1950s diner and pretend I’m a character in Happy Days!

Whilst searching around Etsy yesterday I stumbled across these super cute cupcake toppers. I love, love, love the vibrant colours Sarah has used and the flowers remind me a little bit of the talking pansies in Alice in Wonderland!? To make things even better, Millalove is based in the UK – hurray for British talent!
I spy a super cute wedding over on Brooklyn Bride.
Seriously stylish boys:
Gorgeous escort cards:
And a smoking lobster! Ha! Pure genius.

David Austin Roses grow the most amazing scented garden roses. Last week the company were kind enough to send me a sample bouquet and boy, are these things amazing! Big and blousy the traditional English roses are perfect for a vintage style wedding or if you’re looking for a peony alternative. To top things off, the scent that comes from the roses is jaw-dropping and compared to unscented flowers feels like you’re getting 2 for the price of 1! Here’s a couple of pictures, shame you can’t convey smell through a computer screen!
It’s been super busy at WBZL over the last couple of weeks. Wedding season is just starting to get into full swing and we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve moved to lovely new premises in Islington! After what feels like months of packing and unpacking, the piles of boxes are slowly starting to subside and we’re finally able to admire our new carpet! The development is still being completed but once the garden in finished, the office a little less chaotic and the new furniture assembled, I’ll post a picture or two. In the meantime feast your eyes on this little lovely from Boden. Absolutely scrumptious and perfect if you’re looking for a dramatic change of look for your evening reception.
Be sure to buy your copy of Cosmopolitan Bride this month where Susie and Tom’s gorgeous October wedding is featured! This wedding really was stunning so we’re absolutely thrilled that it’s been featured. To see more pictures from this gorgeous wedding go to our portfolio section and to see the original design board click here.
The current edition of Cosmo also features a beautiful wedding shot by photographer extrodinaire Lisa Lefkowitz. It’s great to see more and more American influences filtering through into the British Wedding Industry. Hopefully this will encourage suppliers over here to continue to thinking bigger, better and more creatively!
